The Trip There tells the story of two (extra)ordinary young people, in a worldwide community of others, who's relationship joyously and defiantly delivers the age-old but often-doubted story of true love conquering all. Spanning a tumultuous 3-year period in the lives of Bob Lud and Emily Bergman, the film examines the role of the Spirit (the Buddha, the Godhead, the Source?!) in shaping the events of everyday human experience.
Through the eyes and through the words of those closest to them as their unlikely relationship blossomed, we are immersed in a most unconventional love story.
Following the path of multiple cross-country journeys, we are witness to a unique and potent manifestation of the hero's journey. Examining the infinitely varied strands of human joy and sorrow, brilliance and fallibility, pain and growth, and the necessity of vulnerability, The Trip There reminds us that the best story, the Love story, is the only story.
